Relation: Relationship - How did you know the deceased?

Sante, Aldo, Josephine & family, I am so sorry to hear of Alberto’s passing. I remember him well from the old days at the City of Nelson when I worked at the Garage & Transit office. He was a very nice man!

From: James & Jennifer
Relation: neighbour

Dear Sante and Aldo,
We are so sorry to hear the news about Alberto. He was so more than a neighbour to us, he was a dear friend who was more like family. He taught us how to grow the best Italian tomatoes, how to prune our grapes and fruit trees, and how to make wine and Italian pickled eggplant. He always had a bottle of wine ready when we came to visit, and homemade zucchini fritters because he knew they were Jen’s favourite. He was an amazing gardener who put us to shame with his industriousness and dedication, and his generosity- he shared with us more fruit and produce than we could ever eat! Always impeccably polite and considerate, it took us a few years to figure out ways to repay his generosity, as he would politely decline most offers. However, he loved homemade baking after his wife passed away, and would accept help with yard work like shovelling snow and mowing the front lawn- he was in his 80s after all! Most of all he appreciated our time and our company, and we got to hear so many of his stories and memories sitting on his back patio overlooking his garden. Alberto taught us the best lesson of all- how to be a good neighbour. We will miss him ever so much, our dear friend whom we were so fortunate to have known. Our thoughts are with you and your family, and with all of the people whose lives he touched. James & Jen
