Alexis Cassandra Nickolchuk-oliver

December 30, 2008 - December 12, 2016

Alexis Cassandra Nickolchuk- Oliver

December 20, 2008 – December 12, 2016

On December 12th, 2016 Alexis was involved in a fatal car accident. She was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

A loss of a child has a great impact on not only the immediate family but also the whole community.

Alexis was a bright star that shone and then family is inviting everyone to come and share an after noon as we remember Alexis's shining presence.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 19th, 2016 at 1:00pm in the gymnasium of the Hume School, 310 Nelson Avenue.

There will be a memorial tree set up in Alexis's honor. Please make or bring a star for her tree. Our hope is that the tree will shine as briggtly as the impact Alexis's life has had on our community.

Then Almitra spoke, saying, We would ask now of Death.

And he said:

You would know the secret of death.

But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?

The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.

If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.

For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;

And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.

Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.

Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honor.

Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?

Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?

And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.

And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.

And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

My wife Karen and I send our sympathy, respect and love to the families and friends of Alexis.
Meaningful words are hard to find when darkness falls despite the sun, but we’re here to help in whatever way we can.
I only met Alexis twice but I know she was a real good kid.
Scripture tells us grief is the price we must pay for love, and so we know how deep the pain goes, because we know how much this little girl was loved.
Our hearts go out to all who hurt. We will stand with you.
