Antoinette Elaine Kaleta beloved wife, mother and friend passed away peacefully in Nelson on Monday February 27th, 2012 at the age of 61 years after an all too brief and courageous struggle with Cancer. She was an amazing, patient, caring and thoughtful woman, who will be greatly missed by her devoted daughter Jennifer Anne Kaleta (Vancouver) and her devoted husband William (Bill) Kaleta of Nelson. She will also be tremendously missed by her precious friends Ruth Gray and Norm Bradley of Grey Creek, the Chong family, Andy, Michael, and Debbie of Vancouver; brothers Shane Klotz (Calgary), Sylvanus Klotz (Bassano), and brothers-in law Joe Kaleta (Red Deer) and Ron Boyd (Winnipeg); three sisters Collette Chamney (Medicine Hat), Stella McKie (Medicine Hat), Valerie (Genifer Brown, Bassano) and sister-in law Karen Kaleta (Red Deer), and her nieces, Leigh Ann Chamney Lavigne, Michelle McKie Robertson, Tamara Kaleta, Klairissa Klotz, Tammy Williams, along with nephews Jason Chamney, Rick Chamney, Mike McKie, Kole Klotz, and Joel Kaleta. She will always be remembered.

Toni was born in Edmonton, Alberta on February 12th, 1951. She travelled across Canada in her childhood, as the family was in the pipeline business. In later years she became a licensed music agent taking one of her groups to the Junos, She became an accountant and ran a business in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and she did forensic accounting of public companies for the securities exchange in Vancouver, BC.

Toni lived with her husband for 31 years, in Medicine Hat (6 yrs), Vancouver (22 yrs), and Nelson for the last year and a half and it was a wonderful journey filled with so much happiness. She was the absolute love of her daughter and husband’s life…

To all those that sent so many emails or cards offering prayers, then condolences, from Medicine Hat, Vancouver, and Nelson…thank you on behalf of the family. To those that should have been mentioned among her friends and have been missed our apologies as this all happened so fast to our beautiful Toni…you know the place you had in her heart.

Hi Bill,
I am trying to compose myself to believe what has happened. It felt so sudden and fast for me and I can probably speak for the rest of our family.
I am so sorry and please accept my condolences to you and your family. Toni is very well loved by me and my family and we will missed her lots just like I missed my mom. My heart goes out to you and your family. Remember that she is in a much nicer place with no more pain in her body. Thats how I saw it with my mom and it put me more at ease.

It is nice to see the little scarf that Toni made for my son(Brayden) when he was born. We still have it and will keep it for along time to come.

We love you very much Bill, be strong, and if you ever need anything, please call

Hi Bill,

I just wanted to let you know how sorry I was to hear about Toni’s sudden passing away. I know how much you loved each other; it was obvious whenever you were together.

Toni was a wonderful person to know, gentle and caring. Having worked with her for about a couple of years, I admired her knowledge about public companies and her contributions to the success of Data Fortress Technologies Ltd. Toni was a well-read person and had a great love for art and literature. I have fond memories of her and I will miss her dearly. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

With warmest regards,

From: Kate Godfrey
Relation: co-worker

My condolences to Bill & Toni at a separation that came far too soon. I did not have a chance to know you long. But I was so touched at your passing.

Toni a loving, caring and warm person that was taken too early from all those that loved her. She was always there with her warm smile and loving hugs at all of the Chong family’s milestones – wedding, business ventures, birth of our son, funeral of my Mother. The love and frienship that Toni and Bill shared was remarkable and they were an inspriation to many married couples. She will be greatly missed and admired by our family.

My dad hooked up with Toni when I was 5yrs old ~ my earliest memory of her is a cloud of sweet-smelling hair & soft kisses. She was the only one to move ashtrays away from my face when the adults were chain-smoking… she would also sneak us into bars before they opened, so we could crank the music, wake up the disco ball & dance like EVERYONE was watching.

***this pic is from the last time Mary {her mother} visited Vancouver, many moons ago… the happiness in Toni’s face melts my heart.

Dear Bill:

Sad to hear the news from you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult times.

Bill, Toni will be missed by all of us and it is a big loss. I am at a loss for words to even explain my feelings.

I will always remember the many occasions at DF where she was a great support in dealing with many issues by adding her valuable opinions and inputs to solve tough problems. Her starting to work for the marketing company post DF, gave her a lot of job satisfaction and things were going per liking. After a couple years you and Toni moved to Nelson and I am not current with your day to day happenings ….and I apologise.

Only hoping that things were doing fine and all are ok but all of a sudden out of the blue I get this message which was the most unexpected.

I sincerely wish I had kept current with Toni and yourself so I knew a bit more…..only thinking that we all could have met on a happier occasion. Anyways, once again our prayers are always there….

Bill & Jenny,
My heart goes out to you both. Toni was one of my favorite cousins and my friend when I grew up. Her Love for you both was written all over her face when she looked at you or talked about you. My hope and prayer for you is that you will find peace and understanding.

I always wanted to be like Toni when I grew up, she was always so put together and full of life… I loved her then and will remember her always.

Love always,
Brenda, Patrick, Amanda, Cassidy & La Senza
