February 12, 1951 - February 27, 2012

Antoinette Elaine Kaleta beloved wife, mother and friend passed away peacefully in Nelson on Monday February 27th, 2012 at the age of 61 years after an all too brief and courageous struggle with Cancer. She was an amazing, patient, caring and thoughtful woman, who will be greatly missed by her devoted daughter Jennifer Anne Kaleta (Vancouver) and her devoted husband William (Bill) Kaleta of Nelson. She will also be tremendously missed by her precious friends Ruth Gray and Norm Bradley of Grey Creek, the Chong family, Andy, Michael, and Debbie of Vancouver; brothers Shane Klotz (Calgary), Sylvanus Klotz (Bassano), and brothers-in law Joe Kaleta (Red Deer) and Ron Boyd (Winnipeg); three sisters Collette Chamney (Medicine Hat), Stella McKie (Medicine Hat), Valerie (Genifer Brown, Bassano) and sister-in law Karen Kaleta (Red Deer), and her nieces, Leigh Ann Chamney Lavigne, Michelle McKie Robertson, Tamara Kaleta, Klairissa Klotz, Tammy Williams, along with nephews Jason Chamney, Rick Chamney, Mike McKie, Kole Klotz, and Joel Kaleta. She will always be remembered.

Toni was born in Edmonton, Alberta on February 12th, 1951. She travelled across Canada in her childhood, as the family was in the pipeline business. In later years she became a licensed music agent taking one of her groups to the Junos, She became an accountant and ran a business in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and she did forensic accounting of public companies for the securities exchange in Vancouver, BC.

Toni lived with her husband for 31 years, in Medicine Hat (6 yrs), Vancouver (22 yrs), and Nelson for the last year and a half and it was a wonderful journey filled with so much happiness. She was the absolute love of her daughter and husband’s life…

To all those that sent so many emails or cards offering prayers, then condolences, from Medicine Hat, Vancouver, and Nelson…thank you on behalf of the family. To those that should have been mentioned among her friends and have been missed our apologies as this all happened so fast to our beautiful Toni…you know the place you had in her heart.

In lieu of Funeral services which Toni did not want, a memorial to celebrate her life will be held in the Spring time on a date yet to be determined.

Bill & Jenny,
My heart goes out to you both. Toni was one of my favorite cousins and my friend when I grew up. Her Love for you both was written all over her face when she looked at you or talked about you. My hope and prayer for you is that you will find peace and understanding.

I always wanted to be like Toni when I grew up, she was always so put together and full of life… I loved her then and will remember her always.

Love always,
Brenda, Patrick, Amanda, Cassidy & La Senza

I remember 1st seeing Bill and Tony, when they moved here from Van a few years ago, sitting out on their front stoop smoking and enjoying the Kootenay scenery. I thought what a handsome couple they made and how obviously in love they were, wondered if they had just met, as they never seemed to grow tired of each others company, often in happy animated conversation. It took me a few months to officially meet them and was immediately put at ease by their easy repoire and warmth. As they lived across the street from me we had many occassions to chat and I grew to sense Tonys elegant strength, Spirit and wit . She was quick to offer support and advice from her storehouse of knowledge. I was shocked to have had her passover so quickly , one day I was offering her some of my herbal remedies for pain in her tummy, then she was in the hospital with cancer! I offer up my deepest heartfelt compassion for her family and close friends, having known her only a short time I can see what they have lost. Yet…only her physical presence is gone, her Spirit is still with us. She is free now, free of pain and all the annoying fears and struggles of this Earthly realm. So I feel her being, especially when I stop to talk to Bill, she is here sitting next to you Bill.

My sympathy, Bill and Jenny, for your sudden loss of Toni, whom you loved so dearly. I remember Toni effortlessly using humour to convey her special perspective; she created indelible images with the fewest of words. I had only glimpses of Toni’s intimate acquaintance with matters of the heart, which you, Bill and Jenny, got the full benefit of in her many expressions of love. Toni will also be remembered for clearly seeing what had to be done, be it at work or for love and family, and for acting on her convictions fully, without hesitation. I hope both of you will find solace in knowing how Toni would have wanted you to endure, and find your way at this difficult time.

I knew Toni in Medicine Hat during the 70s-80s. I knew her thru Bill Wiggins and Theresa Wiebe. We hung out together, shared drinks and went to parties. I remember Toni going on tour with David Patterson and Teresa Wiebe in their band. I remember her laugh, the fun times we had together then. She was an amazing person, she made friends easily and her great personality made being around her great. I thought of all the memories I had with Toni and the most I remember is her laugh. She had a great laugh. I will miss her.
Condolences to Bill ( who I also remember) and her daughter.
She was a good person whom I will never forget

My dear sister Toni, such a lovely old soul, with a deep rich laugh, and wise beyond her years. She used her heart when dealing with people whether it be with family, friends, co-workers, or clients. Her sharp mind was always going, but it was her kind heart that all will remember. Toni – if you have the opportunity to ring my chimes in the back yard – ring them loud! I love you Toni, always have, and always will. You were the greatest little sister Toni, and having you as my friend was one of the most precious gifts that life could ever send.
