Beatrice May Bee Evans

December 21, 1925 - April 2, 2012

Bea’s Story
Beatrice May Evans was born and raised in Onoway, Alberta.
She attended the Royal Victoria Hospital Nursing program in Montreal and graduated in 1951. She was one of six in her class of 91 students to receive an award.
After graduation, Bea worked in the Operating Room for a year. Then she went to England to take midwifery.
Upon her return to Canada, the North called her and Bea travelled to Mayo in the Yukon where she worked for three years. She met Peter, her husband in the Yukon.
They then returned to Edmonton where Bea worked at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for 7 years. Bea and Peter moved to Kaslo and eventually divorced. Bea nursed at the Victorian Hospital of Kaslo for 21 years and retired at aged 62 years.
Besides being known as an expert, gentle nurse, Bea was an avid gardener, cook and baker, seamstress, knitter and crocheter. She created numerous works of art over the years, which were generously shared with family and friends. Bea’s greatest joy was spending time in her garden, with her little dog Teko by her side.
Bea passed away peacefully at Mountain Lake Seniors Community on April 2nd, 2012 at age 86. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

I only meet her a couple of times, but I knew her well thru my friend Joyce;s wonderful letters/stories. R.I.P. Bea, you deserve it!

From: Jill Braley
Relation: Friend

I met Bea through our mutual friend Joyce Davidson. (Momma Bea to Joyce). I will always remember Bea as having a very kind heart, who loved and doted on her little dog Teko, and we can’t forget Martha the cat. I would get a call from Bea each year, reminding me to come to the birthday parties she would hold for Joyce. Rest in peace Bea, we will miss you. Jill Braley

From: Natalie
Relation: Acquaintance-met at Mtn. Lake
