Beverlee Jane Noseworthy (Ward)

April 26, 1944 - September 1, 2017

We regret to announce the passing of Beverlee Jane Noseworthy (nee Ward) on September 1, 2017 in Nelson, B.C .after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Bev was born on April 26th, 1944 to Charlotte & Horace Ward in Nelson, B.C. After graduating from L.V.R. High School she attended Normal School in Victoria, B.C. to study teaching. This was the start of a passionate career as a teacher that spanned decades, beginning at the Hume School in her beloved home town and over 20 years at Blanchard Elementary School in Victoria, B.C.

Finally Bev returned to the Kootenays to teach and retire. Her dedication to teaching primary aged children was reflected in the many cards of thanks and letters of praise from parents and colleagues over the years. In 1991 Beverlee married her long time companion William Noseworthy in Dawson Creek, B.C. Bev and Bill enjoyed traveling, especially to Bill’s home province of Newfoundland visiting extended family. Bev’s passion for teaching and generous spirit touched family, friends and her community in boundless ways and she will be greatly missed.

Beverlee is pre-deceased by her father Horace Ward, her mother Charlotte Ward and her husband William Noseworthy. She is survived by her brother Gary Ward(Sharon), niece Susan Chamberlain (Clyde), niece Pamela Morris her children Emily & James,  nephew Brian Ward(Lisa) and their children Devon & Megan, cousins Dolores Krepps, Gordon Jeffs, Robert Jeffs and extended family members.

Dear Bev. missed her beloved husband, Bill, so much. It seemed that once he died, she lost her zest for living and with her failing health, she found it hard to sustain the fight.
I knew Bev. well from Cook Ave. School in Rossland. We used to have lunch together when I went to the school on Mondays. Bev. was a super teacher—how many teachers could handle three grades in one room and come out sane? Bev. did it and it never fazed her. The students, parents and staff all loved Bev. for her gentle ways.
Another thing that was amazing about Bev. is that for years she drove from Nelson to Rossland and back daily. She would arrive at the school around 7 a.m. before any one else did and didn’t leave until she was totally prepared for the next day. What a woman! An example to us all in so many ways!
God bless you, Bev. I will always miss your friendship.

Hello Gary and families
Knew Bev through my late husband’s family Ken Currah.
Talking to Bev from time to time was like conversing with an old friend. Although I wasn’t close to her, we had the most interesting phone conversations and often with laughter. That’s who Bev was.
Any of the fortunate students who had her as a teacher would have loved her.
Very much enjoyed the honey Christmas gifts from Bev.
Sending my sincerest condolences to the family.
