Diane Gagnon

August 10, 1957 - February 14, 2015

Tribute

Diane Gagnon passed away on February 14, 2015 at Kootenay Lake General Hospital in Nelson. She was 57.

Diane was born August 10th, 1957 in Terrace, BC, and was an avid horsewoman from her early teens. As an adult she settled in the West Kootenays, living there for over thirty years in Thrums, Glade and finally Salmo where she participated in the West Kootenay horse community. She enjoyed dressage and trail riding and being a horse show mum.

Diane was also dedicated to healthcare and worked for 28 years as a registered nurse and administrator for Interior Health. She enjoyed her colleagues and coworkers and found her work both challenging and rewarding.

While work was an important part of Diane’s life, family and friends came first. She and her husband Wyatt shared a hobby farm together in Salmo enjoying her horses, dogs and other critters.

Although Diane’s life was affected by an illness that finally took her away too soon, she always lived her life with courage, integrity and trustworthiness. She embodied these values in everything she did.

Diane is survived by her husband of 15 years, Wyatt Peebles, her children, daughter Danielle Nault (husband Bradley), granddaughters Ava and Lyric Nault, son Lucas Miller (partner Allison), brother Richard Gagnon (wife Barbara) nephews Luke and Joel and niece Justine Gagnon. She is predeceased by her parents Bob and Perside Gagnon.

A service/celebration of life will take place at a later date at her home. Any donations can be made to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation.

I had the fortune of working with the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation while Diane was the hospitals head administrator . As we stickhandled through dramatic changes she never missed a meeting or failed to answer a late night email . Her understanding and her efforts helped us all move toward new maternity wards, operating rooms, CT Scanners and more. I enjoyed working with her and I’m sorry we’ve all lost her.

From: Lori Seeley
Relation: worked with Dianne

I worked with Diane during the time she was administrator for Kootenay Boundary. Our contact was almost always across great distance and that can sometimes pose challenges. Diane was always very gracious and a pleasure to work with. She was down to earth and genuine. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. She was a great soul and will be missed by many.

From: Anna Reid
Relation: coolleague and co-administrator at Kootenay Lake Hospital

My condolences to Wyatt and your family.
I had the pleasure of working with Diane at Kootenay Lake Hospital as a physician and Medical Director a number years ago.
Diane was always a women of integrity, huge work ethic and was a great confidante for me as we struggled through very challenging times of change..
She will be greatly missed.
But beyond work, she always talked about Wyatt, her family and her horses. I always told her she should spend more time with them, and less on the rest of it. I will always remember her climbing up into the high pickup truck , heading home to Wyatt and the horses.
Happy riding Dianne.
Anna
