Tribute
Edward Albert “Ted” Allan
1930 -2016
A truly “gentle man” has left us. Ted passed peacefully into rest with his wife, Carol, of fifty-five years at his side. He was the beloved Dad to Paul (Julie) Allan and dear Grandpa to Lakeisha, Melina and Katia.
He will be remembered for his sense of humour and his accomplishments. He ended his long career at the Ottawa Citizen as Director of Human Resources and Labour Relations. During that time one of the highlights was as a delegate to the Commonwealth Press Union Conference in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1988.
Ted loved his farm and the lessons he learned there in Mountain Township for twenty-five years. He then moved to other mountains in Nelson for his retirement and loved it there also.
“Uncle Teddy” will be fondly remembered by Romany, Mike, Jade and Ginger Oseki of Nelson. Also by Abbie Allan, niece Justine, nephew Marc (Rebecca) and their children, Hadon and Paige.
There will be no funeral by request.
Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life in September at the Nelson United Church, details to follow.
In memory of Ted, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC or a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
“We will polish up the memory chest and enjoy again the happy days we spent together”

To Carol and family. My sincere condolences. Ted was a great guy. It has been 60 years or more since I saw you and Ted during the good old Journal days. Where have the years gone. I wish you and your family all the best in the future. Stay strong. Fred.

Dear Carol…so many years have passed since to and Ted were here in Mountain Twsp. Although we have lost touch, I really wanted to send my most sincere sympathy.

From: Carolyn David
Relation: I worked for Ted at The Citizen
Ted Allan, affectionately known as “Bear”, was my boss at the Citizen and one of my dearest friends. His kindness and wicked sense of humour were just two of many wonderful things about him that I loved and will miss dearly, not to mention a birthday flight we took together over the Kokanee Glacier, when he and Carol first moved to Nelson.
Carol and Paul, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Just as I treasure the many memories of my times with Bear, so also I know that you will be comforted by the memories and laughter you shared together.
