Emily Mae Beauchamp (Ringheim)

Date of Death: September 15, 2018

Emily Mae Beauchamp (Ringheim)

What an incredible woman! Emily was a super-mum, super-grandmum, devoted daughter, loving partner and joyful friend. A kind and generous woman, she will be remembered as someone who put the happiness of others first. If you knew Emily, you have probably enjoyed a meal she prepared, received a thoughtful care package in the mail, or had her helping hand strongly influence your life. She celebrated our victories and consoled us in grief. A lifetime volunteer, Emily was generous with her time to her community. She helped found the Nelson Friends of the Family Foundation, which provides aid for families with children stricken with serious illness or injury. She served with the Ernie Gare Scholarship Program, which assisted young student athletes attend university. She impacted numerous young golfers through her many years of service in the Junior Golf program. Emily did whatever she could to make those around her feel better. She was a delight to be around and a joy to her family and friends. She loved to laugh, and she formed strong friendships everywhere she went.

Emily was born and raised in Kimberley, BC. She attended her final year of high school in Sandpoint, Idaho. Emily went on to Notre Dame University on an athletic scholarship with the Canadian National Ski Team. She fell in love with and married Eric Beauchamp, who was in her words, “the best guy.”  They lovingly raised their family in Nelson, spending summers on the shores of Queens Bay. Later in life, she spent her time in British Columbia, Arizona and traveling around the world. After Eric’s passing, she met Dan Calles and they enjoyed skiing, golfing, entertaining and traveling together.

Emily passed peacefully on September 15 with family and loved ones by her side following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Survived by her sons Gray (Victoria) of Denver, Colorado and Tye of Nelson, BC; grandson Adden and his mother Loula Fouad of Toronto, Ontario; brothers Danny (Donna) Ringheim of Golden and Henry (Sharon) Ringheim of Invermere, BC, her partner Dan Calles of Kimberley, BC; and many other loving relatives and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Eric Louis Beauchamp and parents Olwyn and Myles Ringheim.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Nelson Friends of the Family Foundation, #204, 518 – Lake Street, Nelson, BC, V1L 4C6 (nelsonfriendsofthefamily.com).

Elegance, class, and a ‘slalom’ not to forget. Emily will be missed, but not forgotten. She always greeted you with a smile, maybe a wink, but you were always welcome. Too infrequently, did we cross paths since the halcyon 70’s Emily, and we both know that our life’s paths’ stretch out, and take us away to our destinies. But, you did good, and, I will miss you. Especially that engaging, sparkling smile, rosy cheeks, and out of breath, after ‘ripping’ up some acres’ of powder! A bientot! Emily!

Our deepest condolences to Gray, Tye and Danny in the passing of your mom and friend. I only just saw her in Safeway when she was preparing for the big party out at the cabin this summer so was shocked to hear of her death. I look forward to her last hooray next July! Sending you all love and prayers.

I’m sorry to learn of your mom’s death. Condolences to the boys. I knew Eric in high school and at the hotel. Emily stands in my memory as owner of the ice cream parlour with the macaw parrot she was caretaking for an old gent. Many years have passed by since those good ole days! Take good care.

We are so thankful to have met Emily and Dan Calles at a Kootenay Ice hockey game. They were always busy travelling, golfing and skiing. I was amazed they found time for hockey. Our deepest condolences to Emily’s family and friends and to Partner Dan. We are so sorry for your loss

She was a wonderful person, always the spark plug in the group, organizing parties and dinners, showing up in costumes, and always striving to make people comfortable. She will be missed bu not only Heather and I but all her knew her.

Greg and I are so glad we got to spend some great quality time with Emily (and Dan) over the last few years, especially this summer! She was a great gal and a good friend to the end. Our hearts are heavy for her family and friends. We’re really going to miss Em. Hopefully, she’s having a fun time in Heaven with Eric, Paddy (Greg’s dad) and Jill (Stevens nee Collinson).
