Dear father of Grant Officer of Toronto, Michael Officer and wife Rebecca of St. Thomas, Benjamin Officer and wife Lisa of Edmonton, Alberta. From: Bruce Mitchell
Relation: colleague at University of Waterloo

I send condlences to Roy’s family, and trust wonderful memories of his life provide comfort at this time.
I first met Roy in August 1969 when I became a colleague of his at the University of Waterloo.
Great memories for me are of Roy as a faculty member who was committed to and genuinely interested in students, who looked forward to teaching undergraduate students year after year, whose curiosity and passion about historical geography was so evident, and whose quiet but sparkling humour frequently surprised but always intrigued everyone.

From: Carl and Mary Ertel
Relation: Carl , grandfather of Eric

We were saddened to hear of the death of Roy and would like to express our deepest sympathy.
With prayers,
Carl and Mary

From: Susan Vital
Relation: Neighbor

Roy was the best neighbor I could have ever asked for,, I will miss him greatly. It was great to meet some of his family, Peace be with you all.

From: Paul Totzke
Relation: Teacher and Friend

I was a friend of Roy Officer’s sons and he was a Professor of mine at the University of Waterloo. He was the first environmentalist I ever knew, one of the best Professors I ever had and one of the most interesting people you could ever talk to. I remember his sense of humour, his eccentricity, his smile and the way he listened to you. I remember spending Christmas with him and his family in Nelson B.C. and I’m thankful I knew him.
