It is with saddened hearts, the family of Gwenyth Wynn (Gwen) Buerge announce her passing. Gwen passed peacefully on August 1, 2018 at Kootenay Lake Hospital.

She was born in Nelson to Ivor and Winifred Jones of South Slocan on June 8, 1926. Gwen was a Corporal in the Women’s Army Corp at the end of WWII.

She married Ivar Melvin (Mel) Buerge on October 15, 1949. As well as raising her children, Mark and Susan, Gwen enjoyed bowling, curling, golfing, boating, camping, fishing and her cabin at Queen’s Bay. She was an avid gardener, receiving accolades from Nelson’s Mayors on her beautiful flowers. Many of her friends grew tomatoes started in her green house.

Gwen had volunteered at Jubilee Manor. She also enjoyed crocheting, and knitting, with the KLH Auxiliary receiving numerous baby outfits.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Andre Kirsten, the nurses and the staff at KLH for their compassionate care.
