Henriette Henny Heighton

April 5, 1937 - February 15, 2011

Tribute

Henriette Maria Heighton lived from April 1937 – February 2011. Resident of Nelson, British Columbia, Henny passed away peacefully at Mountain Lake Senior’s Community. Henny was born in St. Wendel Germany to Eduard and Luise Glaser. Her father was transferred to Tschen and later sent the family to Dresdon and Hinishin because of the war. Henny moved to Nelson in September 1965. There Henny met her loving husband Allen and on February 1, 1968 they were wed in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Henny will forever be remembered by her devoted husband Allen, her beloved children Ralph and Elke, brothers Dieter, Horst and Klaus, loving sister Maryanne, 13 treasured grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren, 2 caring aunts Maria Glaser and Brigitte Offerman. Henny is predeceased by a bother Harald. Henny loved listening to music and was a gifted singer. She joined Mrs. Ferguson’s choir where she sang at various functions. Henny also enjoyed laughing, being with her family, and having fun with friends.

Henny touched the lives of many people with her generosity, and volunteered in many organizations throughout her life. As an expression of sympathy the family is asking that donations be made to the Parkinson Society 600-890 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC or to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation 3 View Street, Nelson, BC V1L 1V2. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, February 19th, 2011, at 11am at The First Baptist Church, Reverend Scott Simpson officiating. From: Barb Dante
Relation: employer

I am so sorry to hear of Henny’s passing and want to express condolences to her family and friends. Years ago I worked with Henny at Nelson & District Home Support Services where she provided community based care to those who lived in her area. After that Henny continued to support others through her volunteer efforts, singing and entertaining. She touched those who knew her and her smile brightened the world.

From: Einar Schade
Relation: friend

Some years ago I passed a happily smiling Henny on Baker Street during a busy rush hour. In all this hustle and bustle she was humming a tune to herself. I am certain she is now charming old Saint Peter with her songs.

I feel your pain, Al.

AL, I WAS SO SORRY TO READ ABOUT HENNY’S PASSING. SHE WAS A WONDERFUL WOMAN, SO KIND AND THOUGHTFUL. IT WAS SUCH A PLEASURE TO GET TO KNOW HER AND ALL OF YOU IN THE “LEMON TART GROUP”. I WILL MISS HER A LOT. I HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL, MY SYMPATHIES ARE WITH YOU

From: Victor Neufeld, Wendy Herbison
Relation: friends and former neighbour

Henny was the most wonderful neighbour at Longbeach, a friend, and fellow lover of music, especially choral music. As a neighbour she was most generous to me and my family and her sense of humour was contagious. We’ll miss her and we wish Alan, Elke and Paul and her extended family all the best and send our condolences.

From: Evelyn and Ted Cartlidge
Relation: Dear friend

I will always remember the wonderful working relationship we had at Willowhaven where we met. Henny was always dear to me and we often laughed over times remembered. She will be missed by all .

From: Anne Rutherglen
Relation: My best friend's mom

I loved you dearly Ma#2. I am happy you are no longer in pain and can sing again with Uncle Con in heaven. You will be missed.
