Henry David Hellekson

November 1, 1935 - November 2, 2020

Henry David Hellekson

November 1, 1935 ~ November 2, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry David Hellekson on November 2, 2020. Henry passed way peacefully at Kootenay Lake Hospital with his son David at his side.

Henry married Louise (Bonacci) in Nelson, BC where they went on to raise their two children, Karen and David. Henry worked most of his life on the water as a tug boat operator with Kootenay Forest Products until he branched out with his own tugboat business for an additional 10 years before entering the wonderful world of retirement.
He is survived by his daughter Karen (Ed) Oltoff, his son David (Joanna) and his grand children, Lexus,
Blake, Brayden and Julia as well as his brother Vernon, sisters Alice, Betty, Barb, Margaret and Patsy.
Henry was predeceased by this wife Louise, parents David and Nora and brother Roy.

Henry has requested there not be a funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kootenay Lake
Hospital Foundation, 3 View Street, Nelson, BC V1L 2V1
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Kootenay Lake Hospital for the wonderful care they
provided Henry over the past 7 weeks and helping him through this difficult time.

Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day…

unseen, unheard, but always near.

Still loved, still missed and very dear.

Very sorry to hear the news of “Hank”. I have sooo many wonderful memories of going down to see Hank and Weezie. Then in later years to see them at A&W having coffee. Such wonderful, warm hearted people. Hank was such a gentle giant. Glad he gets to see Weezie tho. Much love . Brad Hartridge

Always remember his laughter and smile. Our son Joe had many walks down to the lake with him, when he was small. Louise would pack them a little lunch and always a story to tell when they got back. We all loved that kind, gentle man. Love and hugs to all of your family. Jim, Judi & Joe Ross

To David and family. I didn’t know your Dad that well but I always looked up to him as a Giant of a man.

From: Michele McClelland

I will never forget Henry’s giggle from his belly…an insightful, wonderful man. Plus his love for the sunshine. Met him first at the Lord Nelson Hotel then bumped into him often at the mall, he always had a smile for me and conversation. He will be missed xo
