Keith Langhorn

January 21, 1932 - May 17, 2016

Keith Langhorn

1932 – 2016

At the age of 84 Keith passed away on May 17, 2016 peacefully with family by his side.

He was born January 22, 1932 in Darlington, England. He married the love of his life (June) in 1953 in Lethbridge, Alberta and made Nelson their home in 1960.

Keith was best known for his role as the Pipe Major for the Kootenay Kiltie Pipe Band, where he not only entertained but tutored many on the chanter, as well as his exceptional self taught Piano playing and Bass talents. He warmed and captivated the hearts of numerous people over his lifetime, and now is in Heaven with his beloved June.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Nicoll (Gregg), Diane Adams, and Keely Pagan (Paul), 9 grandkids and 9 great grandkids.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff of Mountain Lake for their compassionate and loving care.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 2nd, 2016 at the North Shore Hall from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.

Thompson Funeral Service Staff send our condolences to family and friends.

From: David Hogg
Relation: Long-time friend

Keith was my very first bagpipe teacher. He gave me my first lesson in 1960. My family and I had a very close relationship with Keith and June: my mom (Penny) looked after Pat and Diane in the very early days; our families were all involved with the Kootenay Kilties; I used to baby sit for them; we went on many, many band trips together; and they inherited our houseboat. It would be impossible to list all my recollections of Keith and June but there were many, and we had lots of fun together. Keith and June were a special couple of friends who always made me welcome, and who helped me in so many ways. They left us too soon. Thank you Keith and June. My memories of you both are all good.

From: Janice Munro Cooper
Relation: Kootenay Kilties

My dad, Jim Munro, and Keith were fellow pipers and so our families shared lots of fun times at Highland games, picnics and other events. Dad passed away in 2010 but his memories of Nelson and the Kootenay Kilties were among his favourites.
