Lawrence Ralph Mcallister

May 20, 1945 - April 17, 2013

Larry  passed away peacefully in the Nelson Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the age of 67 years, after his courageous fight with cancer.

Born to Ralph and Inez McAllister in Macleod, Alberta.  Larry worked at the Trail Regional Hospital for twenty seven years, before retiring to Balfour. He enjoyed his time fishing and his greatest moment was catching the elusive 25 pound rainbow. He also enjoyed golfing and after each season threatened to sell his golf clubs. He was no threat to the seniors tour.

Larry is survived by his wife Bernadette, son Mark (Michelle) brothers Ken(Hope), Ron(Sharon), Bob(Tracy), Don and sisters Grace Wilson, Betty Harshenin, Lorraine (Neil )Hickman and best friend Rachel.
The family would like to thank Doctors Milde, Malpass and Shumacher and  the nurses in Trail and Nelson for their excellent care of Larry. Thank you for the cards, prayers , support and dinners .

Special thanks to Lisa (our angel in Trail), our very dear friends, caring neighbors and loving
family for being there through our most difficult time.

From: Donald Cozzetto
Relation: Cousin

Dear Bernie and Mark: I just recently learned of Larry’s illness and to discover that he had passed away was shocking to say the least. Larry was a great human being and was like an older brother to me. He was there to provide advice and support when as a young man, I seemed to get into more difficult situations than I care to remember. I hope you guys are coping and I know that you have many friends and family members there to support you. When you get a chance, please email me at don.cozzetto@gmail.com. The time here is 15 hours ahead of Pacific time. Best wishes. Love. Donald

Dear Bernie and Mark, our prayers are with you at this difficult time. It has been too long since I have seen you, Bernie, but just know I am thinking of you.

From: Kelly Morris
Relation: My dear Uncle and amazing friend

Dar Aunty Bernie & Mark :

Loss is very hard to accept…even when we know it’s imminent.

I lost someone whom I have adored for my entire life. Someone who loved me unconditionally, despite all of my quirks. Someone who was full of stories, and full of love for his nieces – the kind of person who was actually interested in a child’s perspective , the one that would listen to you when your mom would tell you to stop talking . The kind of guy who would walk into a room knowing no one and leave everyone’s friend . He loved people, he loved to talk, fish, craft and care for others. We didn’t just lose our Uncle, we lost our friend. We love you Larry. – Gone Fishing xo

Dear Bernie and family
it’s with great sadness we write this note to you.We are so sorry to hear of Larry,s passing. We have such fond momeries of our time with him. Me at work at the hospital and laughs we had . Things like telling him we were going too come steal his Christmas light display, which he loved doing each year, and just having one heck of a great time with all us nurses. And the best was our trips to Vegas, such great fun with you both. Our hearts go out to you and your family.I hope knowing he was loved by so many helps the pained his loss. Sending you a bug hug. Thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Dear Bernie, praying for you and your family that God will draw close to you and give you a peace in your hearts. We are so sorry to hear of Larry’s passing…such a wonderful person with a caring heart for others, always wanted to help out at the Salvation Army when ever we needed him. When he would come to help, it was like a light that brightened up the room as he extended a helping hand to the less fortunate. He truly was a special person that will always be remembered. Love and Prayers, Lorne and Deb

From: Michelle Chartres
Relation: Hockey coach

Hockey is a big part of my life, and I often think of you and your dad, who helped foster that love by coaching the “Jr. Smokettes” way back when 🙂 I was always so nervous when he made us create our own practice drills, but it paid off, and I actually used that with my own kids’ teams. They loved it. I also credit Larry with teaching me not to stop at the blue line and make my teammates offside!! Haha. RIP Larry. Prayers for you and your family Mark.
