Lois Luella Hall (Rothery)
May 4, 1941 - January 18, 2016
Tribute
It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Luella Hall announces that she passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18 at the age of 74 in Nelson, British Columbia. A kind and loving soul, Lois battled recent health issues bravely and was in great spirits at the time of her passing.
Lois was born on May 4, 1941 in Edmonton, Alberta to mother Elsie and father Gordon (Jim) Rothery. She was married to Martin Hall in Calgary on April 8, 1961 and they had two children (Michael and Robert) who they raised in Calgary. She worked in several notable places in Calgary including Burns Foods, the Calgary Press Club and Harding & Hall Insurance. She was a member of the Stampede City Kinette Club where she created bonds that lasted a lifetime.
Lois will be remembered as a unique character, full of love for all those who entered her life. Her passion for shopping and collecting dolls was well known. On her hobby of collecting she said: “I figured you can’t just be a looker all the time!”
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Martin, sons Michael (Kathy) in Okotoks and Robert (Janice) in Nelson, grandchildren Brianna, Liam, Olivia, Kyle and Ashley. She will be forever remembered by her brothers Allan Rothery (Brenda), David Rothery (Sam), Jimmy Rothery (Sharon) and Tom Rothery (Dori), sister-in-law Geraldine Dickson, brother-in-law Jerry Holowachuk, mother-in-law Pauline Holowachuk along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Lois is pre-deceased by her father Gordon (Jim) Rothery and mother Elsie Rothery (nee Friel).
A memorial and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 6 (2016) at Canadian Martyrs Church in Calgary (835 Northmount Drive, NW) at 11 a.m. with Father Vincent presiding.
In the last three years, Lois lived at Mountain Lakes Seniors Community in Nelson where she received kind and loving care from all of the staff.
