Lois Bertha Zierath (Cropley)

September 6, 1951 - February 17, 2017

ZIERATH, Lois Bertha

September 6, 1951 to February 17, 2017

Lois Bertha Zierath (nee Cropley) was born on September 6, 1951 in Edmonton, Alberta.  At age 5 she moved from Barrymore, Alberta to Williams Lake, BC where she graduated from Columneetza High School in 1969.  She worked at the Bank of Montreal in Williams Lake and had her first daughter, Melinda, in 1971.  In 1977 Lois and Melinda moved to Whitecourt, Alberta where Lois lived for 38 years.  In Whitecourt Lois had two more children, John and Amanda, and she married the love of her life, Siegfried Zierath.  Lois worked in Sig’s office as an office manager and worked hard raising their six children.  In 2015 Sig and Lois moved to Woodbury Village to retire at their lakefront home.

On February 17, 2017 Lois left her painful body and an empty space in our hearts and lives.  She was more than a wife, mother and grandmother, she was a precious life partner who loved Jesus and her family and who always made time for play with her children.  Lois loved to read and learn, create great meals, and works of heart with her busy hands.  She will always be dearly loved and forever missed.  You made our world a better place, but now heaven has gained that warm and lovely soul and smile.

Lois leaves behind her husband of 29 years, Sig Zierath, her children Melinda (Ken) Grabler, John Learmonth, Amanda (Travis) Vanderwolf, Step-children Amber (Bob) Kariatsumari, Kate (Scott) Shepherd, and Erika (Ty) Zierath.  She also leaves behind her mother, Florence Hunt, siblings Dwayne (Joanne) Cropley, Patty (Bert) Gentles, and Roger (Penny) Hunt, along with 10 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her father Weldon (Slim) Cropley and brother Robert (Bobby) Cropley.

Thank you to Rhonda Addison, Dr. Florent Smit, and all the homecare workers for their amazing, above and beyond care of Lois during her final weeks.  Thank you to Lois and Sig’s neighbors for the meals and thoughtfulness.  Thank you to Pastor Glen Stewart for your love and support of our family.  Thank you to everyone else who has sent condolences, prayed for us, cooked meals for us, for your love.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Stewart Ministries, Box 745, Kaslo, BC V0G 1M0.
