Matthew Thomas Caron
July 5, 1972 - June 7, 2017
Tribute
Matthew Thomas Caron transcended to the next level on June 7th, 2017 at home in the Kootenays snuggled up to his sweetheart, Caroline Bouchard. His endurance, humour and creativity carried him far but he was overcome by cancer. He inspired many in his 44 years.
Matteo was born on July 5th, 1972 in Montreal, Quebec. He streaked naked through the Laurentians whenever possible until 1978, leaving only a fingertip behind. He was an important part of the team as our family crossed Canada slowly in a blue van, talking to strangers and sharing music at every opportunity. With one smaller digit, he knew guitar would be tough, so he chose the harmonica to express his joy, frustrations, love and most importantly the Blues. He was a soulful, joyful musician that played well with others.
His unique talents included connecting with people and placing stones. He leaves in his place purposeful pathways and well-built relationships.
His skillful ability to interpret a complex world gifted us with a fresh poetic perspective.
To everyone he knew, Matteo was like a brother or best friend. He was fearless, funny, vibrant, energetic, positive and encouraging. He was truly original.
Matthew helped us to see things differently, he brought out the Dr. Seuss in us. A sometimes-unexpected leader, Matteo was always magnetic. Whether he was dealing with teachers, doctors, children or elders, he accepted everyone and encouraged open-mindedness. He brought family and friends together in his last years, nourishing our spirit, strengthening our resilience and teaching us to be in the moment.
His stories live on through his son Austin, soulmate Caroline, mother Panny Taylor, father Bob Caron, brother Ian, sisters Molly and Taylor; cousins Robbie, Adam, Lilith, Julian, Riley, Fraser, Emma, Zoë, Johnny, Nelly, Spencer, Eric; nieces Pascal, Frances, Scarlet; nephews Harper, Arlo; Aunts Vicki, Jill, Ellen, Julie; Uncles Richard, Tom, Andrew, Gordon, Jock and Hugh, plus inlaws and outlaws Dylan, Megan, Mengo, Joe, Maureen, Wayne, Brenda, Ralph, Christiane, Brian, Sharon and way too many friends to mention! The family would like to thank the community for all the support he received.
There will be a celebration of Matteo’s life held on Saturday, June 24th at the Rod and Gun Club. There will be a reflective sharing time with family and close friends at 5 pm followed by time to dance share and celebrate memories of Matthew’s life starting at 6:30.

Bright lights such as these, live on in hearts, minds and body memory. To all those who loved Matteo, to the Caron family, know that you are embraced by many, and forever made more beautiful and broken by the passage of your beloved.

Relation: We met on the dance floor. And on the ferry and random places for 13 years. I really like him. So sorry he is gone.
Some lives are shorter than others. I am pretty lucky he was on the fringe of mine. No starry early morning dance under the stars in the future but really happy about the dances in the past. Ma and Pa and Sisses and Bros and Son and Soul Mate, and vast extended family we all got to love of a true Earth gem. Rest in Love and Peace.
