Melvin Victor Pasacreta

July 2, 1933 - September 1, 2020

It is with sad hearts that we had to say good-bye to our Mel.  His heart was tired and needed to rest.  Mel was born in Nelson on July 2, 1933 and passed away on September 1, 2020

Mel was a devoted Husband, Father and Grampa.  He leaves behind his wife, Vivian, daughter Deb and son in law Brian, son Kevin and daughter in law Brenda, grandson Aaron and granddaughter Jessica.

Also, his brother Clarence and wife Gloria, his brother Bill and wife Sue, and nieces and nephews.  Mel was predeceased by his bother Len and wife Tillie.

Mel had various careers, starting with National Fruit, then parts man at City Auto, KFP and Canada Post.  He also managed a Motel in Kamloops, but Nelson always beckoned him back.  He returned and purchased Scott’s Grocery on Nelson Avenue.  Mel retired from Canada Post, but retirement wasn’t his thing.  He spent much of his time helping Kevin with his construction company and Deb in her Flower Shop.

If you knew Mel, you know he spent time and a lot of paint marking all his belongings, rakes, shovels, saws, garbage cans, etc. with an “M”!

Mel made many friends over the years and was a true gentleman, always friendly and caring.  He will be missed by his family and friends but the memories we have will last forever.

We want to thank the doctors and nurses at the Kootenay Lake Hospital for their care and compassion, Dr. McKechne for his visit, which meant a lot to Mel, for the cards, flowers and food, and Thompson Funeral Home for their services.

Because of physical distancing we will be having a final farewell for the family at the Slocan Cemetery.

To Mel, Daddio, Popso and Grampa, we know that you are in a better place and we send our love with you on your journey <3 <3 <3

Mel was a terrific family man who also cared about his friends and community. He wasn`t someone who would be content to sit around, seemed he was always looking around for things to do and people to be involved with. I remember an old black and white picture of him in swim trunks on the beach at Lakeside Park showing off his muscles. He was a smart and happy man who wasn`t afraid to talk about politics. Our condolences to Viv, Deb and Brian.
