Mitchell Edwin Mitch Mcelree

September 20, 1959 - July 8, 2014

Mitch was born in Regina September 20th, 1959. He was the middle child of three. He moved to Fruitvale in 1972 at the age of 14. He also lived in Nelson, Fernie and Ymir and the Kootenays haven’t been the same since.

Mitch was predeceased by his Mother Linda, his Father Jack and his Brother Colin McElree.

Mitch enjoyed riding his Harley and any muscle car he happened to have at the time. Pedal to the metal hair straight back, and the tunes cranked. He also loved camping, fishing, road-tripping and most of all visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Carla McElree (Todd Swetlikoe) his grandchildren Jacob Buckler and Ryder Swetlikoe of Nelson, BC, his sister Karen (Fred) Sapriken and three nieces Shannon, Shelly and Katie as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him or crossed paths with him.

A Memorial Drive and Ride for close friends and family will follow led by Billy Robertson.

Sorry to hear about Mitch’s passing. He is with Linda, Jack, Colin and Grandma Lenzin again. We would like to be able to come for the service but unfortunately it will not be possible. You are in our thoughts.

I only lived in Ymir for a brief year. But Mitch is someone I will never forget and always tell stories about. He was wild and free and I loved that! I have nothing but positive loving memories of the times spent around fires in the free camping by the river and being entertained in his “man cave” garage. He lived life to the fullest and that’s very rare these days.

My favourite thing about Mitch (and Tracey for that matter) is that when I moved to Ymir they both welcomed me in with open arms even though I was 19. They took care of me and treated me with the utmost love and respect. Nobody made me feel more welcome in Ymir than Mitch and Tracey.

You will forever be missed Mitch! Watch over me until I meet you there! 🙂 🙂 😉 <3 <3 <3
