Phoebe Rose Laybourne (Flynn)

Date of Death: October 11, 2020

OCTOBER 20, 1928 – OCTOBER 11, 2020 (Age 91)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many, Phoebe Rose on October 11, 2020. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by Ron, husband of 72 years and children, Cal (Kathy), Wayne (Kate), Lori (Hugh), Ronda (John), along with 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Phoebe was born in Perry Siding, BC on October 20, 1928. She and Ron met and married, April 2, 1949 and eventually moved to Ponteix, Saskatchewan to farm where Ron was born. In the late 60’s they moved to Rossland, BC until they retired and moved to her beautiful Nelson where they resided at their little piece of paradise on the north shore.

(An excerpt from a poem written by her great granddaughter Phaedra)

“Phoebe had the most beautiful love story. Almost like something out of a movie. Seventy two years and counting was the amount spent with her prince charming. The nicknames, he called her Buttons, she called him Darling. The way he looked at her with such love. His girl, his wife, his princess, his love. She has left him, his heart is heavy, but one day they will meet again, because their souls are meant to stay together…Until we meet again”!

A celebration of Phoebe’s life will be held in the summer of 2021. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity and thank you from the Laybourne Family!

So very hard to lose someone you love and cherish. As a little girl I thought your Mom was so beautiful and she made root beer too. Our families were close. I never liked that you moved away.
Sending love to you all.

From: Jean Jones
Relation: Phoebe was my next door neighbor for over 20yrs.

Sending my deepest sympathies to Phoebe’s family for their loss. And, honoring the passing of a much loved woman. Phoebe was a beacon of life, hope, and celebration to those who had the pleasure of knowing her. As her next door neighbor for many years, I shared many a glass of homemade red wine, stories, memories, wisdom, laughter, and inspiration, with a special woman. Phoebe, you will be remembered always. Much Love, Jeani

It’s so hard to believe it’s been over two months since you left us Momma…. I miss you so much each and everyday. 😢 I will remember that day October 11, 2020 for the rest of my life. It’s so difficult losing a Mother and such pain and heartache it brings. But I know now you are in a beautiful place with your Momma, Dad and Gammie. Don’t worry about Dad, we are all taking care of him, but he misses you so much! I love you Momma… forever and always….♥️❌⭕️♥️
