Stevens, Rhonda (Jill)

Date of Death: April 22, 2018

Obituary

Rhonda Jill Stevens (Collinson)

Born December 31, 1953 Passed April 22, 2018

Jill was predeceased by her parents, Robert (Bob) and Beatrice (Peggy) Collinson as well as her siblings Jennifer and David.

Jill was born in Nelson BC, the middle child of five; Jennifer Collinson, Holly Hale (h. Bob Hale, d. Natalie Hale), Roger Collinson (w. Lori Collinson, s. Tyler Collinson, d. Emma Collinson) and David Collinson. She spent her childhood at Ridgewood Road and Queen’s Bay growing up with her parents and siblings.

As a young woman out of high school she backpacked her way around Europe, upon a brief return to Nelson she then moved to Riondell BC for a simpler life.  It was during her time in Riondell that she gave birth to her only child Erin Patrice (h. Brent Morrison).  Together with her daughter she moved to Kimberly BC for a brief time before settling in Calgary AB and beginning a life there.  In Calgary she began her career in the oil and gas industry, first as an office administrator, then working her way into a production accounting role before moving into a role in Pipeline and Facilities Marketing with Tidal Energy Marketing.  She retired in 2013 but continued in a contract capacity with Tidal until her sudden passing.  She made many friends in the oil & gas industry through her years of service.

In 1995 Jill met Earle David Stevens (Dave) and in 1998 they married in Hawaii on a golf holiday. Together with Dave she found a love for golf, an activity that kept them both busy and happy.

Through the years Jill volunteered her time to Erin’s figure skating club executive, and in her later years with the ladies club of both Lynx Ridge and Balfour Golf Courses.  She also spent time helping with numerous tournament events.

Jill spent a lot of her time at Queen’s Bay or “the Lake” as she often referred to it. She enjoyed to work in the gardens there and loved to show off whatever beautiful flower happened to be in bloom when you visited.

Jill loved everyone, she wanted the people around her to be happy. She was an amazing woman with a huge capacity for love and kindness, she was filled with light and love, she will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Jill’s honour to the Nelson Fire and Rescue, Suite 101, 310 Ward St. Nelson, BC V1L5S4 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.com.
