Tribute
Rose Frances Mauerer
Nee Rosie Munch
On August 10, 1914, a girl was born that would influence a multitude of people until her leaving us on earth to be with God and loved ones on December 14, 2011.
Born in Vallican BC, the only girl to Kathleen and Blassius Munch, in the middle of four brothers, Paul, John, George and Frank, she ultimately became the cornerstone for the family after the death of her parents.
On September 29, 1953 after making sure her job was done on the farm she married her true love, Hans Mauerer and moved to Ymir Road where they worked the land and utilized every inch for gardens, hay fields always making sure there was enough to give to neighbors and friends, fresh vegetables or plants for transplanting or fruit for canning.
March 5, 1953, their dream of children came true with the arrival of Linda Jean whom they fostered and loved as their own until the day finally came 8 years later when they were allowed to adopt Linda and could breathe a sigh of relief knowing that she was theirs forever.
Sadly on April 20, 1984, she lost Hans leaving a void that could only be filled by putting everything she had into preserving the home they both treasured and to her immediate and extended families.
In 2006, Rosie at age 92 finally admitted that she could no longer continue on her own. Fulfilling a promise made as a child, Linda and Karl moved in with her to help her as much as she would allow.
Always with regard to everyone else’s health first, she held tight as she could to her independence until the last day when her body was too weak to carry on.
Her last day was all encompassed with memories of her brothers, that she missed so much and praying for everyone she loved.
Rosie is survived by her daughter Linda and son-in-law Karl, nieces and nephews – Sheila and Bill, Warren and Pam, Jean and Don, Paul Pat and Bunnie, Rod and Cindy, Greg and Sandie, Art and Jennifer, all their children and grandchildren that in Rosie’s eyes were all her kids. She is also survived by Glen and Flora – the “fifth” brother.
Dearest Rosie – you will be missed – rest in peace.
