Sara Jessie Conrow

February 29, 1924 - January 17, 2014

Tribute

Sara was born to Ruth and Archibald Crosbie on February 29, 1924. Sara moved from southern California to Argenta and later Kaslo with her family of three children in 1964 tojoin her sister’s family, her parents and the Quaker community in Argenta. Sara is well known and loved for the many years that she taught elementary school in Kaslo and her volunteer work at the hospice in Kaslo. Her first teaching job was during World War II at the internment camp for Japanese Americans in Topaz, Utah. Sara was a long time member of the Eckanker group in Nelson, where she has lived for a number of years. Sara’s never failing and happy spirit will live on in all of us. Sara is survived by three children, Roger Conrow of Vancouver, BC; Teresa Conrow of Venice, California; and Connie Rohman of Los Angeles, California and her granddaughter, Nora Rohman of Los Angeles. A memorial service for family and friends will be held in Nelson. The date and location will be announced in the Pennywise or can be obtained by contacting Teresa Conrow at: tconrow2@gtmail.com

I will never forget you. Sara was my grade 4 teacher 27 years ago and we shared a special bond. You will always be in my heart and memories.

So many happy memories of subbing in Sara’s class: playing records for Music sing alongs, a male teacher taking over for PE! But especially the poster on the door. Thumper says if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. Thank you, Sara.
