Tribute

Simonne Gould (nee Hache) passed away quietly in the early morning of July 13, 2011 at Kootenay Lake Hospital after a brief illness. Simonne was born in Miscou Island, New Brunswick on September 13, 1935. Fluent in French and English she left school to begin work at the age of 15 as a telephone operator working for NBtel. The family lived in Ontario, Los Angeles, Montreal and Bathurst, NB. Simonne first moved to Nelson in 1991 to live with her daughter’s family. She spent almost all her winters in Nelson and in the summer she always returned to New Brunswick. A graduate of John Paul 2 Bible School in Radway Alberta she was very active in the Catholic Church including the prayer group and Eucharistic Ministry.
Simonne is survived by her daughter Kathy Belland and son Darwin Gould, son-in-law Greg Belland, daughter-in-law Elizabeth O’Neil, granddaughters Christina and Caitlin Belland, grandsons Simon and Eric Gould, sisters Leonne, Irene and Lorna, and brother Lincoln. Simonne will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Cremation has taken place, and the funeral mass for Simonne is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20 at 2pm at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, 813 Ward Street in Nelson with father Anthony as celebrant.

Hi Christina & Jesse,
We were so sorry to hear about your grandma. I’m sure you both have a lot of wonderful memories of her. Our sympathies to the rest of the family also. Love, Darleen & Flash/Grandma & Grandpa.

From: Darwin
Relation: mother

Parts of my mother lives on in me and I learned others such as: Her ability to let the child, inside all of us, to express itself, it kept her young at heart. Her hopefulness, passion, and spiritualism. I learned to know what it is to love unconditionally.

She was a mother to all her grand-children as well as her “kids”

Serenity at last, eh Ma.
