Wayne Ralph Rutherford “Rudy” passed away at age 63 in Nelson, BC, on April 26, 2022. He went peacefully in his sleep at home with his loved ones by his side.
Wayne was born May 2, 1958, in Dodsland, SK. He had a strong love for his family, hockey, and the Roughriders. Work was his hobby, and he was always driven to uplift others. He loved people and making people laugh. He and Tara moved to Nelson in 2014 and he enjoyed hosting friends and family: taking them golfing, or boating, or just relaxing on the beach.
Wayne was an avid entrepreneur and started many successful businesses. It was always important to Wayne that the employees were treated and felt like family. Wayne left an AWESOME legacy of positivity, respect, integrity, strong work ethic, kindness, and humility.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Tara Wood, his daughters Melanie Rutherford, Kristyn McCarthy (Kellen), stepchildren, Addie Stowe, Randi-Lee Muniswamy (Dave), Lindsay Stowe, and Aaron Stowe. His grandchildren Cade, Luke, Shep, and Jedd Meiklejohn, Jayce Rycroft, Carole, Jameson, and Emmett McCarthy, Hosea and Nathaniel Muniswamy, and Harper Stowe. He was predeceased by his parents Ken and Barbara Rutherford, brothers Dennis and John Rutherford, and son Justin Rutherford.
Wayne wanted to pursue a relationship with God in the latter part of his life and found peace knowing he would be reunited with Justin in heaven.
We will miss him very much. He was a gentleman, a scholar, and a lifelong friend, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah… 🤠
A memorial service will be held on May 13, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Plenty United Church in Plenty Saskatchewan.
